The Town of Blue River has requested to be annexed into the now Breckenridge Sanitation District. A petition has been circulated to property owners and eligible voters in Colorado to show support for this initiative. A vote will be held in December 2008.As a former board member of the Breckenridge Sanitation District, I can tell you that Breckenridge Sanitation is a separate entity and has no affiliation to the Town of Breckenridge. To further emphasize this distancing, the Breckenridge Sanitation District will be changing its name to the Upper Blue Sanitation District.

Arrowhead Alpine Club raises $66K for breast cancer walk

A team of women from the Arrowhead Alpine Club raised $66,500 for breast cancer research and care at last month's Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.
The team was the highest fundraising team in the Rocky Mountain region, and team member Sue Sewell was also the highest individual fundraiser for the event, raising $15,500.

Residents report three brushes with mountain lions
Division of Wildlife officials have killed two mountain lions this week that strayed into Durango city limits in southwestern Colorado.
On Saturday, wildlife officials euthanized a mountain lion found eating a cat behind a shed in a family’s yard.
Around 10 a.m. Wednesday, Chris Brinkley reported a mountain lion to wildlife officials behind his home.
That animal also was killed.
Wildlife officials said both were young female lions.

Keystone Group eyes development plans
SUMMIT COUNTY — Top Vail executives will present their latest plans for Keystone at Wednesday’s meeting of the Keystone Citizens League. The meeting is open to the public and will be an opportunity for residents of the area to learn about the redevelopment of the Mountain House base and the new gondola being built at River Run this summer. Vail Resorts Offers Unlimited Season Pass
Vail Resorts Inc. on Tuesday unveiled a new season pass for next year that's about $300 cheaper than the current pass.
In Colorado, Broomfield-based Vail Resorts operates the Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone mountain resorts.

30 Years Later It is Called Snowboarding
Back in 1978, a reporter and photographer from the Rocky Mountain News made a pilgrimage to the snowy mountains of Breckenridge to find out more about a new, relatively unheard of sport called snurfing.
They had caught word that a local bartender named Bob “Bubba” Haught was surfing down snow, and apparently causing quite the scene in the small mountain community.
